My Fruit Cocktail Recipe

by

Fruit Cocktail for TwoHow could I have forgotten to include my fruit cocktail recipe contribution? Mine is as simple as ABC.
A) Drain the fruit cocktail but leave some of the syrup in the can.
B) Divide the fruit cocktail into two bowls and mix in all-purpose cream into each bowl.
C) Chill. Or Freeze.
Ta-da!

I don’t like my fruit salad too sweet. That is why I don’t stir in condensed milk and just do with a little bit of the fruit cocktail’s syrup. I also prefer my fruit salad frozen — not brick hard frozen, but frozen enough that when you bite into a grape, the grape icicles (grape-cicles?) explode in your mouth. Same goes for the other fruits (but I’m biased towards grapes).

I also place the salad in two freezer-friendly containers. When H brings home a great DVD, out come the two frozen fruit salad bowls. Each of us then feasts on our own fruit salad while watching an awesome movie (it was My Sassy Girl last weekend). H loves this but has told me not to prepare it too often, otherwise he’d gain weight. I also enjoy eating this salad while reading magazines (nevermind if they’re about working out and getting fit bodies!).

So there you have it — my frozen fruit salad recipe! Easy as ABC!

i don’t like my fruit salad too sweet either. my mom used to double broil egg yolks & condensed milk for the dressing but it was such a tedious task. we just use plain cream now 😀

and yeah, don’t you just love the movie “my sassy girl”? 😉
