You say “siling labuyo”, I say “grandfather”. Siling labuyo is a red hot chili pepper that’s tiny in size but packs a mean-sized punch. My late grandpa could eat a whole siling labuyo without batting an eyelash. He was a true blue Bicolano and had a passion for good food, especially spicy ones! I wonder now what he would think of this artisan chocolate from Theo & Philo.
This bar of dark chocolate with siling labuyo starts of chocolatey smooth then BAM! The spice hits you. It made us go “Woooo! May sili nga!” (There IS hot chili pepper in here!) My first encounter with this chocolate bar only lasted a few nibbles. The bar has been parked in the refrigerator for now (and only for now). I am definitely taking it out again when I need a little kick! Maybe I can mix some shavings of this Theo & Philo chocolate it into my mug of Milo or Swiss Miss. Those chocolatey siling labuyo bites will take my chocolate drink to a whole new level. Ooh! Midnight snack idea! I wish my grandpa were around to taste this!

no a fan of spicy things but when i tried this i really loved how the spice blended with the dark choc. i wish though they’d be more available for those living in the south of Metro Manila.
