Catch-up Reading, Baby Bonding
In between nursing, changing diapers and other baby chores, I can hardly find time for myself. I’ve got a bunch of books yet to be read, but I’ve figured out a way to catch up on my reading. I read my books out loud to Timmy.
They’re no Dr. Seuss or Mother Goose. The words don’t rhyme at all. But Timmy seems captivated by our read-aloud bonding time, and so I just keep at it.

That’s me in the pic (pardon the messy hair) reading out a chapter to Timmy, who looks like he is closely listening to what Mommy is telling him. We’re currently reading Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol. It’s fun reading the chapters aloud to the baby, who gurgles and coos in return. Cuteness! It took about five chapters before he started getting restless. I just moved on to the next book in my To-Be-Read list — 1001 Foods: The Greatest Gastronomic Sensations on Earth.
Hurrah for hitting two birds with one stone — finishing up the books on my bedside table and bonding with Timmy at the same time! I can finally catch up on my reading.

I think it’s a great way for lil T to get used to your voice
The rhythm of speaking can also be very assuring. But don’t miss out on all the great kiddy books like the Hungry Hungry Caterpillar. My fave ^_^ Maybe when he’s older.

my little boys are big fans of “goodnight moon” and “love you forever.”
also reading “lost symbol.” not to my kids, though. they opted for “pride & prejudice & zombies.”

Babies just love the sound of their mother’s voice. It’s great that you get to enjoy two wonderful things at the same time.
