My silly birth class seatmate
One of the things I discovered about my husband during birth class: He’s a super kulit (silly?) classmate. While he listens during class and asks serious questions, he whispers silly side comments to me which I found annoying at first. I was a super serious student back in school and I retained that demeanor in birth class, diligently taking notes. And here was my silly seatmate, whispering funny nothings, trying to make me laugh. Hay naku! 
Here’s evidence of his kakulitan during birth class. Baby dolls were distributed so we could practice swaddling, burping, carrying. One baby doll stayed on our end of the table, and here’s what I found in our camera in between lectures:

No wonder he wasn’t bugging me for some time in class! He was being his silly self, quietly this time. I cracked up anyway when he passed me the camera to check out his little project. And that’s how H is. That’s how we complement each other. He balances out my seriousness with his playfulness, vice versa.
And when I saw him cuddling the baby doll for almost half the class, I just thought, “I can take his silliness anytime. Even if I missed out on half the answer to my classmate’s question.” The baby books will definitely have an answer anyway. But real excitement for fatherhood, evidenced by not letting go of the baby doll for majority of the class? That’s not in textbooks or lectures. That’s real life, real love, real fatherhood in the making.

ahhh cute! excited na si hubby mo sa pagdating ni Timmy. He’ll definitely be a great dad, nakikita ko na how he and timmy will have a grand time with his kulit moments and all haha.

ack ganyan din si J nung nagbirth classes kami! i was so serious pero sya panay senyas sa akin ng kung anu-ano! meron pa kong drama na ‘di kasi ikaw ang masasaktan sa panganganak eh’, hahahaa! anyway, ok lang yan, when labor day comes, i’m sure the kakulitan will come in handy! sya na magse-seryoso!

hahaha! Ms. Toni your hubby is soooooooo kulit (but maybe he is really nervous for you)…and full of humor…the 3 questions are funny. I’m sure, if there will be a fourth question, the baby doll will be on his back…
