Craving Kimchi

DSC01234

“Don’t eat kimchi! It’ll give you gas!!!” Cabbage isn’t a pregnant woman’s friend, I’ve been told. They give you gas, and who would want to let one rip while at a restaurant? A double whammy with kimchi is that it’s spicy, so it could give me heartburn. Gas and heartburn? Lethal combination!

I couldn’t resist grabbing a bite of kimchi one evening, however. H and I split this small order. I had about two to three bites. The rest of the kimchi taunted me, I so wanted more! But lest I start farting at the restaurant, I decided to concentrate on my Korean beef stew and rice instead.

What foods did you want to eat so badly during pregnancy but couldn’t? Kimchi tops my list. Sashimi is a close second — tuna or salmon. When I give birth, I am so heading to a Japanese sushi buffet for lunch. And then go for Korean in the evening and stuff my face with kimchi. :D

Oh, I know how you feel! When I was pregnant, there were times when I wanted to eat sashimi so bad. :-( Plus chips, cola and chocolates. But I’d asked my husband, even before I got pregnant, not to give in to my demands when the time came. And he really didn’t! I made up for it after I gave birth which also explains why I gained more weight post-pregnancy than when I was pregnant. Pffft.

Sushi would be it for me as well. Although I did eat it (by accident). Alcohol and soft cheeses are other things I missed too.

I miss camembert and brie. Sniff.
