Veronika Decides to Die Movie Trailer

Veronika Decides to Die is one of my favorite books. This novel by Paulo Coelho is about a woman who seems like she has the world, but decides to takes her own life. The story follows her fall into madness and the beauty she discovers in it.

The book has now been turned into a film. Based on IMBD, it is scheduled to come out in March 2009. The film version of Veronika Decides to Die stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as Veronika. The movie also features Jonathan Tucker, David Thewlis, Melissa Leo and Erika Christensen. Take a peek at the trailer. It looks very promising!

Oooh, thanks for sharing. I’m not a fan of Paul Coelho, although a lot of people are. I tried to read the Alchemist and all I can feel was that it wasn’t written well and it bored me. This book sounds really interesting, but I’m worried his writing style might put me off again.

Some Coelho books didn’t resonate with me, others did. Brida, The Alchemist and Veronika connected with me the most. :)

Of all the Coelho works I’ve read, Veronika Decides to Die is the one book I’ve given a second reading.

That said, I’m looking forward to this one. :) Watching the trailer, though, I’m seeing Buffy – not Sarah Michelle – playing the part of Veronika. I hope that changes when I’m inside the movie house.

Good thing I didn’t follow Buffy, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to shake off that image either!

I’ve been waiting forever to see any of his work made into movies… It looks good, I just hope they kept the background stories intact. Sarah Michelle Gellar wouldn’t have been my first choice but it certaintly beats Kate Bosworth.

Kate Bosworth? She’s pretty and all, but no Veronika for me! Woah.

I think this movie will going to be a hit. The story is very interesting and unique. Paulo Coelho is the best novel writer I know. He wrote very professional.
