Weekend Soiree #47: A game of comment interaction

The game is easy! I will ask a question. The first person who comments will answer my question, and will leave a question for the next person to answer. This next person will answer that question, and leave a question for the next next person to answer. I am sure you get it!
To make things more fun, the questions have to reflect the chosen theme. For example, if the theme is ROMANCE, all questions should relate to that topic. What makes you swoon? Have you ever been given a serenade? As much as possible, let’s not repeat the questions for added fun! You are also welcome to play more than once.
Let’s talk business for our 47th weekend soiree.
The theme: WORK
The question: How do you relax at the end of a grueling work day?

Meet up with friends for dinner or cocktails.
What kind of job would you want to have (if any) if money weren’t an issue?
November 29th, 2008 at 6:29 am
If it’s weekend the next day – I’ll go for a massage. Otherwise, I’ll just sleep.
Did you or will you choose a low paying job but something in line with the career you would like to pursue or high-paying job which leads to a different career path?

I want to work related to environment and that’s my job now. I quit my job from a big multi-national to pursue the career I really wanted even if there’s no guarantee that I’ll get the same salary.
To repeat my question:
Did you or will you choose a low paying job but something in line with the career you would like to pursue or high-paying job which leads to a different career path?

if i had enough resources on my own (say money), i wouldn’t mind a low-paying job as long as i enjoy it, but being realistic, i’d try the high-paying job. i can welcome the change in career path and it might even be the career for me (since i’m not entirely decided on what career do i really want
)
what’s fulfilling about your work?
November 29th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
That I got to make value added recommendations, that these can strengthen or break the company. Challenging but satisfying.
Which is more important, the designation or the pay?
November 29th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
I don’t think either matters to me. I work a job without a title and for very little money, but I love what I do.
Have you ever called in sick from work on a beautiful day just to enjoy it?

I think at some point we all have played hooky. Yes I have chucked in a sickie to enjoy the day with my hubby.
Would you last in a job you really love (like the actual work), even if you did not like your immediate colleagues (eg, team mates)? .. Follow up Q: Would you leave work if you do not like your work mates? Even if they don’t do you any harm.

actually, the main reason why I stay in the office now is because of the people around me.
Q: have you encountered first hand office politics?

Not personally, no, because I tend to ignore the so-called politics going on around me and just do the best job i can while there (i know i will never stay at a job longer than five years, so why bother?)
Question: Do you take work home?

Answer: I work from home and have a hard time letting go sometimes, but it is soooo worth not having to go into a cold car in the morning and throw myself into chaos.
Question: Was there ever a time where you said, “enough is enough, I’m done!” and put in your notice?
November 30th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Yes in my previous work. My supervisor and I had a heated discussion over the phone and I tender my resignation through e-mail as soon as I got home. Then, I handed my formal resignation letter when I went to work the next day. Actually, I’m really planning to leave the company but I wanted to take my vacation before I tender my resignation so I can get the airfare allowance. But then, after the heated discussion I realized enough is enough.
What is your ideal job?

if money weren’t an issue, would you still choose to be part of the workforce?

if money weren’t an issue, would you still choose to be part of the workforce?
Yes, there’s nothing like learning new things from colleagues who are also team players in achieving the goals we have set for the children (and their parents) that we work with.
My line of work is stressful at times but there is nothing like a compliment on a job well done that erases all these stresses away
What accomplishments have you done that you are specifically proud of?

I’ve gotten pretty high up the ladder at a relatively young age. I’m proud of that. I’m also proud that I stuck to one industry and learned its dynamics, and am now applying what I learned to a “sister” industry. I’m very happy with my career.
Have you ever had a boss who became a good friend?
