Fat-burning Soup

What you need:
6 large onions
2 green bell peppers
6 huge, ripe tomatoes or 1-2 large cans of tomatoes
1 bunch of celery with leaves
1/2 head white cabbage
4 carrots
1/2 big can of tomato juice
Salt, Pepper to taste
* My mom also puts in 1 pack Lipton onion soup mix for flavor. If you don’t have this, you can just use herbs and spices, as I did.
What you do:

Dice the vegetables and put them in a pot. Fill the pot with water and the tomato juice.

Boil for ten minutes, then simmer till the vegetables are tender.
Season as you go along.

From this…

…to this!
You can eat as much of this as you want to. My only warning is this: It will make you gassy.
Best to eat it at home, yes.
Does it really burn fat? What I hear is that this soup helps you burn calories and flush out toxins. I do feel healthier after eating this soup. Who wouldn’t anyway, with all these vegetables!
Ideally, the diet calls for eating just this soup for seven days. I can’t do that. And so what I do is I have at least two big bowls a day, but at the same time, watch what I eat. No heavy carbs. No soda. No alcohol. Make this soup a part of your daily healthy meals. It will complement it well. It works for me!
So, who wants a bowl of fat-burning soup? Can I have a show of hands?
Additional notes! (added 9/23, 1:11 pm)
- This yields around 20 servings. Cut the recipe in half if you want to have just ten bowls, e.g. 2 carrots, 1/4 head of cabbage, etc.
- It will keep for a couple of weeks in the ref. I suggest you freeze small portions and just re-heat when to be eaten.
- It’s best to consult your doctor before going through any kind of diet. A word to the wise!

Hey Toni, I think the soup is called a Kick-Start diet soup – it cleanses your system and it’s really good for loosing weight.
What you can also do is put half of the soup in a blender so it gets a bit mushed up and then combine it with the rest of the soup – it can be a bit chunky and smooth
Also, if you miss your meat, you can put chunks of beef there, let it boil and boil until it’s tender.
Usually you eat that soup every meal for a week or two and you can see the difference
It does work and have tried it – it’s especially nice during the winter months here in Australia.

Nga pala, you can cook a big batch of soup to last for a week, some people freeze half of it and finish up the first half first -
September 23rd, 2008 at 9:37 am
@Miss B
Thanks for your input, you answered exactly what I was going to ask Toni, hehe.
@Toni
Does your mom use the onion soup mix for any particular reason than flavor? I wonder if a different soup mix will work—I mean, you did suggest herbs and spices so that might mean there’s room for experimentation
I wonder though if I can last with this—I’ve a feeling my tastebuds will feel stressed with the repetition. Plus, it doesn’t help that I bought a shyteload of junkfood from S&R during the sale. Mebbe when I finish it all.

A word in your ear: don’t go for the soup mix if it has MSG listed. The fat-burning qualities of the soup will be compromised by the sheer amount of MSG in the soup mix, and might even be counterproductive.
This is a great soup. I’d up the protein quotient – without compromising flavor and calories – with shredded chicken breast, fresh shrimps, or lean sirloin.
Thanks for posting this, Toni! More power to your healthy eating program!

I LOST 2.5 lbs and it’s only Monday. My diet officially ends on Wednesday.
I list here my experience with the soup:
1. It tastes great! I would order this soup in a restaurant even if I’m not on a diet.
2. It does make you gassy. True test of unconditional love.
3. I cheated. I ate regular food from my husband’s plate. I ate oatmeal for breakfast. I ate out during our dates.
4. It is filling. After 1 or 2 bowls, I try to eat regular food but I end up my just taking in a few bites.
5. I am glowing. Maybe this is just my imagination.
Thank you, TONI! Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!

I am a vegetarian. What can i replace for meat? Any suggestions
November 25th, 2008 at 1:00 am
Hi all. I’m on my 8th day of this diet and have lost 10lbs so far!! I’m not a “fat” person but had about 15 or 20lbs (max) to lose and this is the perfect diet for before the holidays. I eat fruit with it the first day, veggies the second day. Veggies and fruit on day three. Skim milk and bananas on day four. Beef on day five (I put extra lean ground beef right into the soup for this day) and its good because day 6 is also beef day with veggies. I also put a roast in the slow cooker the night before and grazed on that during the 6th day. Day 7 is brown rice, veggies and unsweetened juices. Everyday you eat soup and each of these and by this morning I was 10lbs lighter!!! I couldn’t believe it!! AND its filling! Sometimes I put a package of chili spices in it to give it flavor…yum!! Surprisingly easy to stick to. I have the exact recipe with each day written out if anyone wants it just drop me an email. jfriend3@hotmail.com

Lipton Onion Soup packets contain trans fats, which defeats the purpose of a fat-burning soup. It’s better just to used dried onion and other herbs.

This soup sounds good. Honestly eating anything high in fibre, low in fat and full of veggies and water for a week will do what this soup promises (like a large green salad with a low fat homemade dressing). That being said, I bet this would be great with a healthy dose of Tabasco.
