Is okra an aphrodisiac?
“Did you know okra is an aphrodisiac?,” my friend asked over lunch. All of us at the table went, “No way!” It was the first time I heard about it. Okra? One of the most-hated vegetables, is an aphrodisiac? Interesting. Here are some of my theories why okra is a vegetable of hot lovin’:
1. It’s sticky and slimy. Maybe that texture makes it appealing in a sexual way. Maybe.
2. Its long, slim shape. Two things here: it either resembles a penis or fingers (it’s called “lady fingers” in English, right?). So maybe that resemblance to those, well, erogenous zones could be the reason.
And then, there’s the fact that okra is “rich in Magnesium, is a natural relaxant and contains Iron, Folates, Zinc and Vitamin B, all food for the sexual glands.” (source)
It’s also said that okra is most potent as an aphrodisiac when prepared (steamed or blanched) and served with lemon juice. So maybe instead of chocolate and oysters, you and your partner can have a sexy dinner of steamed okra. Give that much-hated vegetable some attention!
As I said, those are my theories. They have yet to be proven. Ha! Stories would help. Have you heard of this before? Is it true? Enlighten us!

mahilig ako sa okra. nakow, kaya naman pala!
anyway, okra is used in some popular southern staple (meaning, in southern united states). here’s one that’s basic: boil them okras, then add tomatoes and onions, garlic and ginger. yummm, nagsasabaw-sabaw.

Oh lordy. I hate hate hate okra. The slime factor grosses me out! My mom usually just sets the okra on top of the rice in the rice cooker once it’s cooked, so it steams and is ready by the time dinner is served. Just thinking of it now give me the heebiejeebies. As for an aphrodisiac, pwede bang maligo na lang ako at mag-perfume? Ahaha.

I heard something different from my cousin who is a med-tech. She said it increases fertility. A friend of hers was having trouble conceiving. They’ve been trying for over a year. They led a bit of a stressful life so the doctor advised them to exercise regularly and eat okra. The couple ate it everyday, the guy especially and after a month or two, they got pregnant. I forgot her scientific explanation but that’s what she told me, and it worked, apparently.

Hello, about aphrodisiacs browsing internet to find data on this subject that I found very interesting, share it with you because I think it is good to have more information about this topic, greetings!
Here is a list of aphrodisiacs that you may or may not have heard of somewhere:
1. Chocolate : What is an Aphrodisiac? Chocolate is! the romantics identify chocolate as an aphrodisiac, and the reputed aphrodisiac qualities of chocolate are frequently associated with the simple sensual pleasure of consuming it. However, there are chemicals found in chocolate such as phenethylamine that can act as mild sexual stimulants.
2. Oysters are often used as aphrodisiacs and according to a research team they are rich in rare aminoacids that trigger increased levels of sex hormones.
3. Potatoes: in the past potatoes started to get reputation to be a powerful aphrodisiac, while herbalists insisted in the fact that potatoes could cure everything from diarrhea to tuberculosis and people in Shakespeare’s time viewed the potatoes as part of the list of aphrodisiacs and then labeled them “Apples of Love” and inclusive fruits.
4. Rhinoceros Horn: a few tribes in the north of India are practically the only people who started using rhinoceros horns as part of the list of aphrodisiacs, as it is said to make men sexually unstoppable.
5. Plants and fruits: some plants and fruits have the correct convination of components to be a perfect aphrodisiac.
Medical science has not verified claims that any particular food from the list of aphrodisiacs increases sexual desire or performance. After know what is an aphrodisiac you should know that there is an aphrodisiac drug called Bremelanotide that seems to be the first real aphrodisiac, acording to medical investigations. The effects of this new aphrodisiac drug has proven to stimulate sexual desire in men and women, and clinical trials are currently doing tests for this new aphrodisiac drug to be used for the treatment of sexual arousal disorder and erectile dysfunction as well.
My doctor said it is better to just take this great aphrodisiac drug called Bremelanotide in order for both men and women to improve their sexual experiences and performance, so you can just do the same and have piece of mind about it. As I previously said, some people did not know what is an aphrodisiac and know they do, which is great, and after being able to find out what is an aphrodisiac now you can start using this information for your sexual life!

Very good site, excellent content, I will recommend to my group of readers in the university, I found very interesting article on the internet, including this … Knowing What is an Aphrodisiac is important; we all have probably heard a lot of things about aphrodisiacs, or even used them before having sex with someone.

Indeed, okra is my favorite vegetable. Pag may girlfriend o asawa na’ko, kahit nilagang okra ang lagi niyang iluto para sa’kin araw-araw, masayang-masaya nako! Lalo pa kung… iba-ibang luto sa okra ang gagawin niya! ;D
