I thought that if you immersed clay in water overnight, it would turn into an eraser. Hellowwww! My parents didn’t teach me that though. Hahaha. I can’t think of anything they made up for my amusement.

I had this red tri-cycle which I navigated around our little village until I was chased by a dog, got bitten and abandoned all idea of using my lil bike again. Btw by tri-cycle I don’t mean the ones we have here that charge a fortune, my little red bike had 3 wheels thus i call it tri-cycle

Is there something you believed in when you were a child only to discover much later in life that it was merely some story made up by your parents to amuse you?

Oh I had two crushes. 1. My kababata, Donnie, who is 3 years my senior. We grew up together in the same compound. We go to the same church. We hang around each other’s house, but he mostly went to mine. He was the closest boy friend I’ve had back then. Then there’s this other guy (also older) whose name I forgot! He was so tall and handsome (tisoy kind of handsome) and super sweet. He used to visit me at my house in the weekends just to know how I was doing. We didn’t go to the same church so we didn’t see each other often. He used to tease me to wait for him so he can be my boyfriend when I grow up.

Donnie is still my friend now. Our families are good friends and we go to the same church in Pinas. Every time I see him, I laugh at myself and think, was he really my childhood crush? lol

The other guy I haven’t seen after high school.

I remember my Mom trying to make me drink a spoonful of medicine. I was too hardheaded so she threatened me with:

“Do you want to drink this medicine or stand in the corner?”

I chose to stand in the corner.

Hehehe. My mother was not amused.

My bestfriend when I was a kid was an Indian girl named Naimet Pabaney. We used to call her Nena. One afternoon my Lolo saw her approaching the house. He called to the cucinera and said “Isyang, itago mo yung fruitcake at andyan na si bumbay. Uubusin na naman yan!” Needless to say, she loved fruitcake especially when my Lolo would splash some brandy on it. And to think we were in only in 3rd grade then.
