Randy Pausch: His Last Lecture

Randy Pausch is a Carnegie Mellon professor who is dying from pancreatic cancer. Last September, he gave his last lecture at the university. His talk was entitled “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.”

The lessons I have picked up from this video go beyond the value of making those dreams come true. Watching Professor Pausch standing before an audience, talking about making the most of your finite life, shining with so much positivity and encouragement — his example is what moved me the most. He is not in denial of his condition. He says he is not morose. Instead, he chooses to walk on the good side and share his life lessons with his students — and through his video, with the rest of the world.

The video of this last lecture of his can be found here. It is a 76-minute talk worth watching. Professor Randy Pausch also appeared on Oprah. The following is a video of him on the show, reprising his university lecture. While it is a condensed 10-minute talk, it is as touching and moving. Prepare to see life differently.

    Hi Toni.

I happened to log on to your blog and came across this post. Thank you for sharing it. It has given me a whole new perspective and refocused me to the right direction.

Hi Amee! Let’s thank Randy Pausch for making time to share his life lessons with us. What we can do is continue to pass them on so others may learn from it too. I’m glad it has connected with you, as it has with me!
