I really should use bookmarks! When I was younger I got in the habit of folding the pages. Now that really bugs me. After I stopped that I just tried to remember the page number. Hah! I’ll be revealing my age with this one (ok lang ) An $85 4-inch thick copy of the complete works of Shakespeare — I *had* to buy it for the Shakespeare class I was taking, which I ended up hating (apparently here in the US almost everyone has had extensive Shakespeare experience in high school, so most class days I felt so lost — I’ve since learned to appreciate Shakespeare better). And back then (’88) there was no bookfinder or any of the price comparison sites, so I didn’t know how to look for it used and cheaper.

It’s not just one book, but a couple of series. I recommend any one of these series:

1. The Belgariad and then The Malloreon (The Malloreon branches off The Belgariad)
2. The Elenium and then The Tamuli (same thing as #1, The Tamuli branches off The Elenium)

These are all by David and Leigh Eddings. I love them.

Love Story by Erich Segal. I read it when I was about 11. Picked up a copy at home, didn’t think it would make me cry but it did.

I never finished The Purpose Driven Life. I found it boring. What about you?

Yes. There is, and it is my mom. My mother loved collecting books since she was in high school and all her books since then are still on our bookshelves. She told us her reason for collecting all of those are for her future offsprings. Usually every month or every two weeks if she’s not busy, she stops by at a book sale just to by us books. One summer day while she was cleaning our bookshelves, she noticed the pages of her books being torn out by termites. Then she became mad and punished us by not giving us our weekly baon if we didn’t read at least an article. But what came next is that I learned to love books so much that I would flee from doing household chores just for the sake of reading… which also made my mother mad. Hehehe.

I read 1 to 2 books a week (if time permits). I also love reading the dedication and acknowledgments of the authors.

Coming up with my top 10 books is tough but here’s 10 authors that, with the help of local libraries and thrift stores I’ve managed to read MOST if not ALL of their books— Stephen King, Danielle Steele, John Jakes, James Clavell, James Michener, Johanna LIndsey, Mary Balogh, Stephen Cannell, MIchael Palmer and MAry Higgins Clarke— all great storytellers. Some Top Books: Shogun (James Clavell), Thorn Birds (Colleen McCullogh) and if you like romance, my all-time favorites, Man of My Dreams (Johanna Lindsey) and Simply Love (Mary Balogh).
