Pumpkin Perfection!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketI told you I’d let you know when I’d find a good pumpkin pie here in Manila right? Well, I haven’t found it yet. But I did find the perfect pumpkin cupcake at Cupcakes by Sonja. Yowza!!!

When I saw a row of her Pumpkin Sweet Spice cupcakes behind the glass, I almost jumped for joy. Of course I didn’t since the place was packed and we didn’t want crushed toes now, did we?

I ordered one cupcake. Just one little cupcake. I was taking the cupcake out for a test drive after all. I didn’t eat it right away though. I brought it home, chilled it a bit and then bit into its orange perfection.

Now, can you say L-O-V-E? It tasted absolutely divine. One bite into its pumpkin goodness and I was absolutely taken. The pumpkin taste was not strong — it blended perfectly with the spices and the delicious bottom crust. The topping (cream cheese I think?) was a perfect accent too. Memories of sharing Pumpkin Pie with my Aunt at Bakers Square came to mind. Ooh la la.

I did remember to take out my camera, but that’s all I did — remember. My hands were too busy opening the little cupcake box. And before I knew it — camera, what camera? Add to that how my dear husband decided to split the cupcake with me. I didn’t think he would like it since it was, well, pumpkin. He went “Wow!” at first bite though so literally, I just had half a cupcake. Much to my frustration really.

This might be a seasonal cupcake though, so you and I better go over to Serendra. Each pumpkin cupcake costs P100, but I’m telling you that it’s absolutely worth it. I’m counting the hours till I get to sink my teeth into another Pumpkin Sweet Spice cupcake. And this time, it’ll be all mine. It’s okay to be a little bit selfish, especially if it concerns a cupcake as divine as this!

Talaga!! I love Sonja’s cupcakes but I didn’t get the chance to sample this one. I’m not a fan of pumpkin kasi..sayang..mukhang masarap pa naman as you described it :)

I wasn’t a fan of pumpkin too but after that pumpkin pie experience during my vacation, my mind changed. Buying this cupcake, I was still a little bit apprehensive but one bite was all it took to ease away the tension. I loved it!

I loved that pumpkin spice cucpake of Sonja’s too! She has a lot of new ones and my favorite of which is the pistachio berries and cream – omigod heavenly!! :) Super worth the money everytime!

Now THAT I have to try. I saw the Pistachio Berries and Cream cupcake but didn’t order it. The call of the Pumpkin Sweet Spice cupcake was stronger. But HA! I will order that next time too. Thanks for the tip!!! And yes, super worth the money!

i have not tasted any of sonja’s cupcakes yet :( a friend said to me that sonja’s cupcakes are kind of overrated, hindi naman daw ganon ka-spectacular, so i lost interest. and then my sister disagreed vigorously, she praised them to high heavens. and now here you are. the ayes have it. subukan ko na:)

Here’s the thing — some of the cupcakes are pretty much everyday fare, but she also has cupcakes that super stand out — like this one! I also love her lemon cupcakes (whoops, forgot the whole title) and the Berry Delight Cheesecake cupcake (uh-oh, forgot that one too…). Maybe they tasted so good I forgot what they were called. Hehe. I hope you do get to try this Pumpkin one!

Haven’t tried Sonja’s cupcakes either or any of the cupcakes now popular. But when I do, will try the pumpkin one.

And when you do, I hope you can let me know how you find them. :)

Awww… It’s really sweet seeing that you love your husband so much that you shared half of that tiny Sonja’s cupcake which you loved, so dearly (with a little frustration yes, but that’s very understandable). =)
I guess it can now be said that love is a Sonja’s Pumpkin Sweet Spice cupcake shared between between hungry wife and husband…=)

Uh, yes, that was love. *grumble* Hehehehe. Kidding!!! We’ll get one each next time though! :D

  8. Kay Says:

ooohhh … I gotta try that … I wonder when I can go there though …

When you do taste one, let me know ha? I want to know how many people here like it!

P100 for a pumpkin cupcake? Is that expensive?

Yes, it is expensive. It’s quite a high-tier bakeshop, but some of the cupcakes are verrry much worth the price. This Pumpkin one is definitely worth my hundred pesos!

  10. jeff Says:

Yup, Sonjas Cupcakes are a bit expensive… havent tried the pumpokin one though…will keep it in mind.. thanks

Some of the cupcakes are very much worth the high price. Like this pumpkin one!
