What would happen if you just walked away?

An old officemate shared this with me. We both don’t know who wrote this. If you do, please let me know so I can give him/her proper credit.

I’ve always kept this poem in my files. Whenever a friend of mine or I come to a crossroads, this piece always comes to mind. I’m sharing it with you just in case you need it at this time too.

What would happen if you just walked away?

Put things into perspective: what would really happen if you just walked away?
What would you lose if you left behind what is hurting you?
You need not stay where you are; there are other places you could occupy, possibly more happily than where you are now.
What keeps you were you are?
If there is nothing, walk away.
If there is something, you will know why you stay.

Hi (I’m not sure if my first comment went through!). I’d just like to say thanks for posting this, it’s quite timely, as I’m stuck right now and it gave me something to think about. Hope you don’t mind if I post/save it too – afraid I don’t know who wrote it either. :( Thanks again!

Hi Monch, no worries about the posting/saving. I’m glad that this poem helps you somehow.
