What’s on your desktop?

The wonderful Mike Mina of Lafang tagged me for this interesting Desktop Meme. He says:

This new tag / meme is kinda interesting as it calls for bloggers to show off their personalities to their readers (including fellow bloggers) through their computers’ desktop themes. This will show the world how organized (or disorganized) lot we are – bloggers!…

Without further ado, here’s a capture of my desktop:

My Desktop

I was searching Flickr for interesting pictures of forests during twilight. I’m still on a Twilight kick, yes, yes. I used to find pictures of forests creepy, but that series really changed my affinity with forests (and vampires too). So anyway, this pic came up. It was purrfect. I can imagine Bella and Edward walking hand in hand through this stream, maybe even Jacob and Bella joshing each other while walking through the bushes. Aside from the Twilight homage, I love that this image is so serene and calming. The original picture can be found in this link.

So now I shall tag 5 people to show me what’s on their desktops! I am tagging Kaoko of Kitchen Cow, Tina of Refine Me, Shai of Shai Coggins, Joey of 80 Breakfasts and Rachel of Heart of Rachel. I’m reeeally interested to see what these five highly creative women’s desktops look like!

I am also tagging anyone who still eats the sugar flowers off birthday cakes. :)

Here are the meme instructions:

My Desktop Free View Instruction

A. Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun.

You can do a screen capture by:

[1] Going to your desktop and pressing the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key).

[2] Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V).

[3] If you wish, you can “edit” the image, before saving it.

B. Post the picture in your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you want. You can explain why you preferred such look or why is it full of icons. Things like that.

C. Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktop as well.

D. Add your name to this list of Free Viewers with a link pointing directly to your Desktop Free View post to promote it to succeeding participants.

hey, i used to have a similar desktop photo years ago! :-) and i still eat sugar flowers off birthday cakes . . . tee hee! thanks for participating, toni . . . :-)

You still do? Yey! Apir! Hahaha! Thanks for the tag Mike. This was super interesting! Now to psychoanalyze the bloggers… hahaha! So are bananas your favorite fruit? Hehe.

  2. Rach Says:

Very nice and pleasant to the eyes! I like the vibrant hues of green and blue.

Thanks for the tag Toni. I did the same meme recently. Here is
    my desktop.

Oh you’ve been tagged na pala! Whoops. Thanks for sharing the link with me! Yohan’s so cute! He looks like he’s thinking of something naughty to do. Haha!

  3. Shai Coggins Says:

Thanks for the tag, Toni. Interesting desktop pic you’ve got there! And interesting story behind it too. :-)

Anyway, do you mind if I ‘pass’ on the tag this time around? Well, I actually did a screenshot, if you want me to send it to you – or post it on Flickr and put it on ‘private’ mode (just friends/family; we have to be ‘friends’ on Flickr though ;-) ). But, unfortunately, I can’t post it on my blog right now.

I actually have a pic of my family as my desktop (just one of our recent casual pics). I tend to use favourite family pics right now, as hubby and kids are my biggest source of joy and inspiration. :-) Helps keep things in perspective when I feel really rotten/uninspired/etc. while working and all. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, hubby has requested for me not to post family pics in public at the moment. That’s why I can’t blog about my desktop. Sorry about that.

Again, thanks for sharing your desktop with us!

No problemo! I was more interested in the stories behind the images anyway. I wanted to understand what would make the blogger choose that particular desktop image. You can say it’s a bit like psychoanalyzing, is it not? Thanks for sharing the story behind your desktop image with me! Desktop images do more than just fancy up how that “first page” of your computer looks. Looks like it’s a nice venue for bloggers to re-focus in the middle of a stressful day (family pics like yours, nature pics like mine), a reminder of some things they aspire for (wishlist images), a reminder of some things they have accomplished (cars and vacations pics for example).

All this talk about Twilight is making me want to read Edward’s version more. Up till the 2nd book, I was Edward all the way. Now I want Jacob too. Sorta. I’ll check out her playlist now. :D

P.S. It’s amazing how even your desktop is so organized. Mine’s hell.

Sa ‘yo si Edward, sa ‘kin si Jacob. Deal or no deal? Hehehehehe.

Oh there’s The Lost Chronicles in Dragonlance diba? Have you read those volumes yet? Tanis and the rest of the companions are back, sorta.

  11. Kay Says:

On my desktopis a picture of myself with the lyrics to Hoobastanks’s The Reason… its a gift from my SO when we had a fight. Hehe.

So is that a reminder of your sweet reunion? ;)

  12. G. Says:

i took this picture by the beach, during twilight, with delayed shutter. i think it turned out pretty well but i’m going to go back and reshoot it.

Hi G. I love it. It gives me the feeling that I’m standing on that platform about to do either of these things:

    a. If I’m in a reflective mood, I’d just stand by the railings and stare out into the waters.

    b. If I’m irate or confused, I’d walk, walk, walk from that platform onto the shoreline and walk walk walk till I’m calm.

I love that it’s twilight here. It really is so lovely.

  13. watson Says:

I use a Mac at the office and it has a feature that periodically changes the screen’s backdrop. Really nice. Right now it dumps all downloads onto the desktop so medyo maraming iconic clutter which I clean up every Friday.

We were once in Dolores Quezon and the chef who prepared our dinner had real flowers on our risotto. He had us eat the flowers! Hehe. ok lang naman.

Mmmm sarap naman ng risotto na yan, with matching flowers pa. Mahalimuyak ba ang hapunan niyo? :D

Hey I like that Mac feature! Laos ang PC pagdating sa ganyan, hehe.

  14. krn Says:

i have the “Man vs Wild” wallpaper on my desktop. The screensaver is “Blue’s Clues.” I am a big MVW fan and Blue just makes me laugh. :) Nice wallpaper, toni. :) Eerie yet calming.

What is Man vs. Wild? Is that from a show? :)

  15. Christianne Says:

My desktop wallpaper doesn’t have such an interesting story behind it… it’s simply <a href=”http://csandstig.multiply.com/photos/photo/25/105″>this pic of Annika and me:D

Awww so cute Christianne!!! :) It does have an interesting story you know!
