8 Random Things from the Desk Pet

Yoshi does a quick spell check on my entry.Hi there! You may know me as Yoshi from the Mario Brothers game. Well, I’m just one of many vinyl figures sold in stores, so I’m very grateful H spotted me and gave me as a present to Toni. I’ve been renamed as Ichigo Yoshi. Toni has asked me to write 8 random things about her. She was tagged by Shai. Since I’m her office desk companion, methinks I will write about 8 random things she has on her office desk. That counts, right?

Random thing #1: Me. I think she keeps me close to her laptop because I cheer her up. She rubs my nose a lot, and gives me a kiss before she goes home. If only I could grant her a wish everytime she squeezes my nose.

Random thing #2: Pictionary cards. Sometimes she draws a card from the deck, picks a word from that card and uses it as a trigger for some creative thinking. She hasn’t played Pictionary in years though.

Random thing #3: A recipe for Chicken Macaroni soup stuck to her workboard. She tore it out off a newspaper and thought it would be a perfect meal on a rainy weekend but hasn’t gotten around to preparing it yet.

Random thing #4: Crayons. Did you know that in the age of technology Toni still likes writing by hand? Before she does a Powerpoint presentation, she writes her presentation flow and content on bond paper first. Sometimes there are colors too! That’s where the crayons come in. They’re also used to mark things on documents. Sometimes she uses highlighter but do highlighters come in Burnt Sienna?

Random thing #5: “The Girl with a Pearl Earring” postcard. Her friend Claire sent this to her for her birthday, saying that the postcard reminded her of Toni. I think that comment intrigued Toni so she’s deciphering what she shares with this painting. Methinks it’s that look that’s like a mix of pensiveness and curiosity.

This is hard. *looks around desk some more*

Random thing #5: All of Toni’s pets are named “Ichigo.” Not that she has a lot but her Tamagotchi is named Ichigo. Her future pet dog (future future future) will be named Ichigo. I am Ichigo Yoshi. Oh wait. That doesn’t have anything to do with stuff on her desk. Forgive me?

Random thing #6: Mirror. Self-explanatory.

Random thing #7: A Little Twin Stars silver keychain tag. The circular thingamajig that holds the keys together broke off, but she keeps the Twin Stars. They were one of her favorite characters when she was a little girl.

Finally.

Random thing #8: Lots of books. She has an English dictionary, a Tagalog-English/English-Tagalog dictionary, two marketing books, three advertising books, the “Men are from Mars” book, “Think Pink,” two managerial books, one economics book, one religion book, one “8,789 Words of Wisdom.”

Yoshi blogs for me.

This blogging thing is hard. I think I’ll go back to being her desk pet instead. ‘Twas fun while it lasted but this randomness has exhausted me.

there is a restaurant in Ashland (famous for its Shakespeare Festival) that I used to frequent for my daybreak staples of vegetarian omellette, hash browns, french toasts and coffee.

I liked the place because the food is good, the waitresses are good-looking, the view is magnificent and each table table is provided with a deck of Trivial Pursuit cards which my son and I played while waiting for our food.

I don’t go there as much anymore, because a friend and her husband opened a similar restaurant a few miles up the freeway. And for the most part, that’s were I go for my breakfasts now.

But I remember and miss the TP cards.

It’s been a pleasure meeting Yoshi. Congrats to his successful blogging stint. :)

I love the Pictionary cards thing. I’ve always admired your wonderful and creative ideas and it’s amazing how you find inspiration in unique ways.

I love Little Twin Stars too. I remember back in grade school, I had a Little Twin Stars school bag, pencil case, sharper, pencils, erasers, etc. My mom even gave me a Little Twin Stars shirt with my name on the back. I wished I had kept that shirt.

Awww, that desk pet is so cute! Where did you get it? I want one! :-)

  4. Shai Coggins Says:

Nice twist to this meme. Yay!

Oh, and I so love the Pictionary idea. That set we have here at home is doing nothing. Maybe I should hunt for it and use it more. ;)

And, wow. The Little Twin Stars. I can’t believe you still have one of those. While nearly everyone else I knew loved Hello Kitty, I remained a big LTS fan as a child.

    Thanks again for sharing these.

Hello Yoshi! You’re cute. I also have a desk office pet – it’s a brown puppy from the littlest pet shop called Pixie. She keeps me company, and I hate leaving her all alone at work at night and on the weekends. Pixie and Yoshi should be friends.

Hehehe…cute ni Yoshi. Used to have a “pet” like that too. He was a small teddy bear which I picked up on the street. For lack of a better name, I called him “OZ” (shortcut ng Oso). Ngayon, inarbor na ng anak ko siya.

Uy, Little Twin Stars!! Si Kiki and Lala!! Liked them too. Make-up kit ko is a LTS lacquer box I got in Tokyo when I was 12yrs old!! Buhay pa hanggang ngayon. I also like Zashi Kibuta. My husband likes Hello Kitty..hahaha :)

Your take on this is really cute. I trust you to pull off something really creative. :)
The Girl with the Pearl Earring, now that’s intriguing. And doing your presentation’s outline on a bond paper seems to be a necessary step before you can come up w/ a perfect presentation. We all have our “quirks” on this I guess. I do mine on Excel, I cannot do it in Word. I don’t know why. And then I just transfer to Power Point.

Anyways, enjoy the long weekend! :)

i love this post. made me smile. especially the last picture. i don’t have pets in my cubicle. i have posters about abuse and women’s rights. hmmm… maybe i should put more knicknacks. my cube is too serious. except maybe for 1 family photo (taken after a ride on the Log Jam at EK)and another of ian wrestling a fake croc — both tucked under the plastic flap of my tabletop calendar.

  13. Jerome aka Bridget Jones Says:

Toni!!!! oh my god, i also believe in hand-writing. Call it old school but i love to prepare things hand-written, edit it using red ballpen, before encoding it in my computer. i love your pet! tinalo si Tiger ko.

Hi Ate Toni, nice and cutie toy ha. Where Ichigo name came from? Nice name!
