LHC December Reunion
LHC — Lonely Hearts Club. That’s what we called our barkada when we were college freshmen. We’ve been friends for eleven years. It’s been eleven years!
You’ll know who your true friends are only with time. They’re the ones who stick by you no matter what. They’re the ones who you’re patient with no matter how impossible they can get because you understand them best. While we each had our black hole years, the time when we would disappear and fall out of touch with the rest, we always came back. We were always welcomed back.
We’re still called LHC. While we’re at different stages in our lives now, our hearts are much happier today. We now laugh at the angst and depression of our college years but would not trade those drama years for anything else.
Come to think of it, we never caused one another loneliness. We laughed together, helped dry up each other’s tears, held each other’s hands through our rollercoaster lives, danced all night, sang till morning… we’re a happy bunch. Our hearts are happy with one another. That’s real friendship, I think.
“I’ll lean on you and you lean on me and we’ll be okay.” – Dave Matthews Band
Eleven years, guys. Here’s to eleven more.

i know how it feels, tones. met mine twenty plus years ago, went through all sorts of things and we are still there for each other. somebody said, not all are/ will be blessed with such kind of friendship, so we should consider ourselves extremely lucky/blessed to have this.
yipeee..wednesday na, we are halfway thru the week! have a happy wednesday!

Yes, it does feel great to have friendships that have lasted many years. I’m one of the lucky few for being in one. I’ve been with my high school barkada for 15 years now. We’ve been through so much… shared each other’s laughters and tears, and even if we have “black holes” (like you guys do)… we go back to each other, too.
Truly, time is the best test of friendship.
I love that Dave Matthews quote.

Meeyagirl: Haha yes I’m very blessed to have such wonderful friends!
mare : You’re so right! This barkada is one of my greatest treasures.
annabanana : Hump of the week! Yey! Lapit na mag-weekend!
cathy : I think all barkadas go through that black hole phase ‘no? It’s one of the biggest hurdles in a friendship but once people start coming back, and are welcomed back, the friendship’s there to stay.
jey : Such a small world it is! Btw, baka ma-late lang ng konti ang gift ko ha. Basta wait ka nalang hehehe.

What wonderful photos! It’s a shame I couldn’t join you. hopefully, I’ll be at the next one – our kids can play with each other while their ‘ever-young’ parents chat over sugar-free cake and decaffeinated coffee.

[...] What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? December dates with my college friends (major barkada reunion). It took ten years for us to be together so who knows? Maybe the next one will take another ten years. [...]
