Simple lang

One of the simplest and most comforting vegetable dishes in our little home.
Saute one chopped onion and three cloves of chopped garlic in hot oil. When onions are transparent, saute 1/8 kilo of lean ground pork along with the mixture. When almost brown, add the chopped pechay stalks. Stir in one tablespoon of patis. After about five minutes, stir in chopped pechay leaves. Feel free to add water when the mixture gets too dry. All in all this dish took about 15-20 minutes to cook. This recipe serves 2.
This is a very flexible dish. You can add chopped ginger to give it a kick. I was supposed to add that but I didn’t have any ginger on stock. You can also use powdered seasoning for this or even soy sauce. It depends on what you’re craving at that moment. In place of the ground pork, you can use shrimp. You can also turn this into soup by adding more water or pork broth. Mmmmm. I’m gonna try the soup version next time.

Tones, paborito ko din ito! It’s like a family traditional dish esp. during weekdays when in a rush kasi madali i prepare. Nagutom ako as usual

My grandparents usually, ground beef ang pinang-hahalo nila and it’s really taste good and now you give me the idea by using ground pork. Ma-try nga tonight for dinner!

xtine : You can even use shrimp in place of pork for this one! Or sometimes I make do without meat and just have plain veggies. Just as delicious and nutritious!

tintin: H and I just call it “The Pechay Dish.” I think it’s called “Pechay Guisado” (Sauteed Pechay). Pechay is Bok Choy.

my mom makes this w/ salted black beans and it’s really good… just be sure to rinse the black beans for a bit or only put half a can so it’s not too salty… it’s really good…
I’ll try your pork dumpling soup… looks good…. hhhmmm…..

genpot: Mmmmm, thanks for the tip on the salted black beans. Is that the same as tausi? I’m not sure. That sounds like a great combination with the petchay. Adds a Chinese flavor to the dish! And yes, do try the Pork Dumpling Noodle Soup. It’s easy to make and great to have on a rainy evening!

This post made me crave the dish! It’s been a while since I enjoyed it. I think I’m going to the market later to buy some pechay ;o)
