Sometimes It’s Beer

Friends Over Drinks

Is it the topic or is it the company?

I have my coffee friends and I have my beer friends. I rarely drink alcohol, so if I share a beer with you, you’re truly someone special! But there are talks that call for coffee, others that call for wine or beer. So what dictates the drink? The company or the topic of discussion? Hmmm. Do you know what I mean? I don’t know if it’s just me or it’s a thought others share.

hmm, don’t really know. i can’t stand the taste of beer unless its the German kind. i usually call for wine but kung inuman talaga, tequila and other hard liqours naman..LOL. lasinggera kasi.. *shhhh* :)

I never liked beer, mapait kasi. Hehehe… But I can take wine, margarita or cosmopolitan. Parang ang sarap ng french fries na yan ah…

I usually just drink once a week at most. So if I’ve gone to a party on a friday night and drank there, I’m usually gonna opt for non-alcoholic drinks if I go to another party on a saturday night. I usually join in the drinking when there’s alcohol around but usually just have wine when I host my own dinners. At the house I’ve had only 1 party, the housewarming party and yes, we had alcohol server other than wine. But I prefer hosting dinners.

What dictates the drink? I’ve not given that much thought until now….I think its either the food or the company. Not necessarily the topic.

Sometimes, its food. When I go out eating with my nigiri urges (sushis and sashimis), and exotic food adventures — think adobong frogs — I definitely prefer beer, mostly SMB super dry.

Sometimes, it’s the company. Especially the older ones. In the provinces, this is one of the best ways to communicate with the townsfolk. There, it’s either beer or gin bilog. :)

In my case, it’s the company that dictates the drink. When it’s the girls, anything with good food and libation takes the cake. When it’s the guys, it’s def the beer and maybe even the harder stuff. When it’s familia, it’s those quick sips of cognac or brew just to keep up with the men. (Papang always gave me sips of beer from the age of 1!!)

In all cases, all that matters is if I’m enjoying the company and food. Yes, food!

hi toni! gone are my beer days! pa wine-wine na lang !

  7. ruth Says:

What dictates the drink? I think it’s the company. And the time of day, the topic of conversation, the number of people involved, and the state of the wallet, hehe…

  8. Lissa Says:

If ever we do get a chance to go out.. I’ll buy you some cocktails. ;) I’m not much of a beer drinker.

  9. Toni Says:

dexie : Hahaha easy easy lang!

Linnor : Syempre French Fries agad na-spot mo! Yeah ang sarap niya. I had to control myself in ordering another serving!

tintin: You must host really fun dinners! :)

Dr E: Hmmm I guess it all depends on the situation ‘no!

mare : Ah yes, true! It could depend on the company. I don’t drink beer with the family since they’re not drinkers, but I do drink with a specific circle of friends… and yes, food matters most!

paz : Haha me too, but sometimes I have my beer moods!

ruth : State of the wallet! Hehehe. Tubig nalang dear!

Lissa : I’m all for cocktails. ;) I hope to see you again in this lifetime! Haha!

  10. jojo Says:

hi sis! as for me, it depends on the mood, and what the topic of conversation is. and yes, i think it also depends on the company. kung medyo game to be rowdy, syempre, inuman na yan!

  11. ting Says:

‘depends on the weather I guess. Also, it depends on the mood. I’m not a beer drinker but it doens’t bother me if the company is good as long as it doesn’t bother them that i’ll be drinking my coffee, as well.

  12. Toni Says:

jojo: hmmm i guess they go hand in hand!

ting ah! the weather too! i didn’t factor that in. and the mood does play a huge role.

What dictates the drink? It’s the company in my case. I’ve been working where most of the people are guys and boyish and everytime there are on gimmicks, they opted for beer.

So when Im with them, me naiiba kc I dont like beer. Ang bitter kc.

  14. Toni Says:

jeanny: That’s nice that you don’t drink out of peer pressure. :)
