The Notebook
I’ve had about nine online journals, many of which no longer exist. I’ve had countless diaries. I got my first diary when I was in 5th grade. It was green and had a lock & key. I wrote a lot of short stories and poetry when I was a kid. I still do when the mood strikes. Writing has always been my passion. Well, that and my marriage. I believe that each one has to have a personal passion, whether it’s completely just for herself or if it’s a passion that directly benefits others. I consider writing a personal passion. I write mostly for myself.
I used to collect notebooks. I could never have enough of them. My fingers have a mind of their own and scribble on notepads like there’s no tomorrow. When I’m in front of a computer, my fingers fly over the keyboard the way a pianist’s does over ivory. There was one time I was trapped in a coffee shop, stranded by a storm and I desperately wanted to write. All I had was an eyeliner and a couple of table napkins. You can guess what happened next.
So what triggered this entry? A new notebook. One of my best friends, B, gave this to me as a Christmas present. This was on my wishlist and ta-da! She granted my wish. It’s a really big notebook with Vincent Van Gogh’s Cafe Terrace at Night on the cover. I love Van Gogh’s work and I love notebooks so this was a great combination! It’s been awhile since I’ve written my thoughts and poetry on paper, and this notebook has made my fingers itch! I wanted to write in it last night but told myself I will start on this new journal in 2005.
Thanks B, for making my fingers itch again. I will search for the perfect pen now for writing on this perfect notebook.
